This article looks at The Warm Homes Plan, a Government scheme which offers subsidies to households who invest in renewable energy, such as solar PV systems and battery storage.
This article is a three-minute read.
This month, the Government announced a package of measures aimed at improving the take-up of renewable energy in homes across the UK. Here, Doyle Electrical, MCS certified installers of solar panels in Suffolk, take a closer look at The Warm Homes Plan.
Doyle Electrical – Solar PV Installers in Kesgrave and Across Suffolk
At Doyle Electrical, we have been designing and installing solar PV systems for more than 10 years. We have carried out high-quality work for homes and businesses in Ipswich, Woodbridge, Aldeburgh, Framlingham, Kesgrave and across Suffolk. For more details of all aspects of our work, follow this link and complete the online form.
The 2026 Warm Homes Plan
The main feature of the Plan is the announcement of £15 billion of public investment, which will provide sustainable energy upgrades to five million homes across the UK. This should help households save hundreds of pounds on their energy bills each year, while also helping to cut the UK’s carbon emissions and reduce the problem of global warming.
The £15bn of investment will help to pay for:
The Role of Doyle Electrical
The Plan requires all installations to be carried out by MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) accredited installers to qualify for the government-backed loans and low-income grants.
Full details of how the scheme will work have yet to be decided, with many of the decisions to be taken by local authorities and elected Mayors. However, since we are already MCS certified installers in Suffolk for both solar PV and battery storage, we are well placed to participate in the scheme.
And if you don’t want to wait until the scheme is in full swing, or perhaps you don’t qualify for all aspects of the scheme on income grounds, we can still install your solar PV panels, whether you live in Kesgrave, Ipswich, Woodbridge, Felixstowe, Martlesham, or any part of Suffolk.
Another element of our work is battery storage, which enables you to store any excess power you generate from your panels, and use it at a more suitable time. We are platinum partners with Duracell, but can also install a number of other leading battery storage brands.
We can design and install a solar PV and energy storage system that is bespoke to your property, your requirements, your budget, and is best suited for your needs – whether it is
Our High Standards
All our electrical systems are professionally installed by our highly skilled and trained engineers, who pay particular attention to your property’s aesthetics. Where possible, we will hide or conceal any cables, and we will leave your property clean and tidy.
We also ensure that the system is thoroughly checked, tested, and operational before we leave, as well as explaining how the system operates.

FAQS:
Q: What constitutes a low income under The Warm Homes Plan?
A: Your household income must usually be £36,000 a year or less. If you earn more than that, you might still be eligible for one or more of the subsidies mentioned above if you live in a certain postcode area, or someone in your household is getting certain benefits. Additional support is available for those living in social housing. More details can be found on the Government’s official website.
Q: Has the Government made any further commitments on solar panels?
A: Yes, the Government will be introducing the Future Homes Standard at some point this year. This will include a requirement for all new-build homes to be fitted with solar panels.
Q: How much can solar panels save you on your bills?
A: The finance website MoneySavingExpert estimates that households with a typical 3.5 kilowatt peak system can save between £190 and £350 a year on their electricity bills. The figure will vary depending on the type of home you live in, the number of people who live there, and the size, number and position of the panels you have installed.
