With statistics suggesting that well over half of all home fires are caused by an electrical fault, we cannot underestimate the value of regular testing.
At best, a fault in an electrical system can be an irritation. At worst, it can escalate to a fire or become lethal to the touch.
Doyle Electrical Services are able to carry out all aspects of testing from fault-finding through to complete Periodic Test and Inspection Condition Reports (EICR). We have carried out electrical testing in commercial and domestic properties in Woodbridge, Framlingham, Ipswich and throughout Suffolk and beyond.
We can provide an independent, comprehensive, and unbiased report on the condition of your electrical system. All testing is carried out in accordance with the 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations, BS7671. Our engineers use the latest calibrated testing equipment, along with software to provide you with an accurate, high-quality report which can be emailed or supplied as a PDF file for your records.
The Government has proposed detailed regulations for enforcing mandatory five-year electrical safety checks in the private rented sector from July 2020.
All new private tenancies in England will need to ensure that their electrical installations are inspected and tested by a qualified person before the tenancy begins. The landlord will then need to ensure that the installation is inspected and tested at least every five years, and more often if the most recent safety report requires it.
For existing tenancies, an electrical safety test will need to be carried out by 1 April 2021, with regular tests following this as outlined above.
The regulations will apply to all properties across the private rented sector, including houses of multiple occupancies (HMOs), although lodger arrangements where the tenant shares accommodation or amenities with the landlord or their family are excluded. These regulations will replace the existing requirements for HMOs regarding electrical installation testing and inspection.
The Health & Safety Executive states that 25% of all reportable electrical accidents involve portable appliances. These include items such as your toaster, kettle, computer, IT and TV equipment, power tools and extension leads – in fact any electrical item that can be picked up and moved.
Doyle Electrical Services can carry out portable appliance testing at your business or home. All our testing is carried out in accordance with latest British standards using up-to-date calibrated portable appliance test equipment. along with software to provide you with an accurate, high-quality report which can be emailed or supplied as a PDF file for your records.
